The Radiant Lady

The Radiant Lady

A Poem by Justin Tobey
"

This is a tribute to the goddess...

"

The forest was still.

Mist wafted slowly out

Over gnarled tree roots.

In the deep, a shadow moved.

It became darker

And solidified.

Suddenly, the mist parted

To reveal a great lady.

She was clad in a dress

Of shimmering crystal

Like dew drops scattered

On fresh, morning leaves.

Her hair fell in ringlets,

One moment like gold,

The next, midnight black.

With flickers of red between.

Her deep eyes sparkled

With bright, silver hues.

They held wisdom, mirth,

Kindness, and great beauty.

Although she looked young,

The eyes showed her mind

That had lived and loved forever

And seen infinite truths.

She raised her hand in greeting,

Beckoning with the grace

Of a million shining angels.

All the forest leaned in to watch.

With a flash of her smile,

The sky became dark

And the sun fled to the west.

In the east, the full moon rose.

Under the moon, she glowed,

And grey flowers sprang

Beneath her bare feet.

Animals of all kind came to her.

She bent down to gently pet

A pack of joyful wolves.

Nightingales sang around her,

And the wind joined the song.

Just as quickly as it had gone,

The sun rose behind her,

To bathe her in golden light.

The animals fled, and she stood.

A soft fragrance of oak

Filled the air as she turned,

Her eyes filled with love.

The sun beckoned to her.

The sunlight weaved together

Into a golden, muscular man

With pure white antlers

And emerald eyes.

They met and embraced

As their bodies dissolved

Into gold and silver light.

Together, they flew to the skies.

That was perfect; really it was. Imagery was amazing; I could almost...
almost paint a picture of it.

This was amazing; and definatly a favourite poem.
Great job, and keep writing!

This would make a great video short for a song or something. Lots of wonderful visuals. Maybe you should do a screenplay of it or something. Kudos. Loved it.

That was a very beautiful poem. I love how it's full of details, yet still has a poetic rhythm. You painted the atmosphere very well with your word choices.
