![]() The StoneA Poem by Justin Tobey![]() This is a description of labradorite, and beautiful stone that I recently bought at a farmer's market. Like the one in the story, it broke, but I still keep both the pieces.![]() In the gem, a light flickers. Its crystalline essence Shows both the surface And the smoky depths. Glowing tones of blue, Green, and orange Shift and move like fire.
A dim spot shows That something's true self Can only be seen in the perfect Light and angle, just like The iridescent circle That disappears To the casual observer.
The crack along the side Adds mystique and magick. It proves that even the most Beautiful things have flaws; Flaws which make them Even more spectacular To truely behold.
The deep stone cracks Into two separate parts Like the two sides of everything: However, even the fragile, Broken state cannot hide The deep essence that remains. © 2008 Justin TobeyAuthor's Note
