Goldmyst

Goldmyst

A Poem by Justin Tobey
"

This is a tribute to Goldmyst, a place that we discovered one day. It has become a single place where we can both be at peace with the world. This poem is dedicated to Mary, one of my best friends, and the place we found together.

"

The mound looms,

Sparkling with white-gold sand.

Heaps of the shimmering, fine grains

Sit until they are touched by the wind.

Two people sit,

A dark-haired boy and emerald-eyed girl.

They speak rarely, simply lying in the warmth

And taking in the serenity, a break from life.

The timeless place

Is ravaged by wind and rain,

Yet always returns to that tranquil,

Beautiful state in the sun, for the two.

They smile,

Making angels as if it were snow

And laughing at the mixed results,

Always happy at the mound.

The girl,

A rare, peaceful expression gracing her face

Holds the sparkling sand in her hands

And scatters the grains to the sky.

They both watch,

Breathless, elated, and inspired

As the fine, warm grains

Spread, rippling and floating

Like golden mist.

This contains such beautiful and magical imagery. The lines "Holds the sparkling sand in her hands / And scatters the grains to the sky." create a lovely image of "golden mist" flying around these two people, as they sit peacefully together. Great job, I enjoyed reading this! (:

This sounds like a lovely place indeed - how serene a picture you paint - it is like a beautiful canvas of words and images conjoined together. Thank you.

Justin - It is a blessing to have a place that is special, and magical, for two. May Goldmyst always be there as a safe haven and place of wonder.
