![]() Tree LifeA Poem by Justin Tobey![]() A trees point of view of life. I didn't really put what surrounds the tree, just the process of growing.![]() Darkness. All around me, the ground pushes in. I wait for weeks, Patiently growing, Until, finally, it comes.
Life. Daylight, blinding at first, Dazzles my senses With warmth and light. I open up to take in the feeling.
Growth. Thin limbs reach up, Grasping for the moon. I spread out, both upward And downward.
Sinking. Gnarled, twisting roots Reach into the ground. Strength flowing in from the earth, I spread my influence.
Flight. I reach the sky. Hundreds a little fingers Bloom with white beauty. My thick trunk towers.
Magnificence. I am home, not just for me, But for hundreds of others. Beams of sun- and moonlight Bathe my tall hill in love. © 2008 Justin TobeyAuthor's Note
