Battle Against WavesA Screenplay by Jester_SalvadorScene Act 1 Ext " Ocean - Afternoon A
wave crushes against a young man standing against the premeditated pattern of
the sea. Fully clad in the latest designer clothes, his expressions conveys a
greater need to combat against the seas intangible cold, blue, and frothing
soldiers. Head butting the front lines, diving deeply into its belly and coming
out the back, he screams at his victory. Scene Act 2 Ext - Primary School Yard "
Afternoon Boy, Friend of
Boy1&2 Fatty, Fatty, Fatty Fat,
Fatty. Three
boys play a game of chase, their prey, a little girl. She runs as fast as her
wobbling legs can take her. Tears rolling down her chubby cheeks, her
tormentors reach in deeply to her figuratively oversized heart and yank on the
chords. Strumming her pain with their fingers on a childish tune. Boy Let me tell you some phat
news fatty. The
boys snicker at what’s about to come Boy You’re so fat that when you
went to Jenny Craig they made a bazillion dollars. Laughing
at the up surge of tears formulating at the corner of the little girl’s eyes,
they make a circle around her holding hands and sing “Fatty, Fatty, Fatty Fat,
Fatty.” Scene Act 3 Ext " Ocean - Afternoon Pitting
his man made rage against the primordial. He swings his fist at the barrage
Poseidon, in Its pride, sends forth. Angered by this diminutive mortal audacity,
Poseidon increases the strength and the ferocity of His warriors, but the man
clings to his hatred of all things and pushes on. Scene Act 4 Ext " High school class room
" Afternoon The
girl that everyone chased away with taunts, now chase her with playful
harassment. Awe inspiring in her genuine seduction, its something about her
that draws all the dicks her way. Sitting at the back of the class with his
head phones in, listening to a fake rendition of the trials and tribulations of
how “dey gots their bling bling”, he subconsciously stares at her. He looks
across the crowded room and right before their eyes meet sunshine falls in
between them and the bell rings. Marching his way through the wave of
adolescences, he taps her on the shoulder. Teenager Hey don’t I know you from somewhere? His
earnest question, even to his ears, sounds like a cliché from the 1930’s when
romanticism was getting milked for all its worth. Teenage Girl I just transferred here, but we used to go to
primary school together. Teenager I still can’t place you… Teenage Girl Let me help you “Fatty, Fatty, Fatty Fat, Fatty.” Teenager Wait you can’t be… Smiling
at the disbelief and confusion squatting on his face, she walks away with a
self satisfied smile. Scene Act 5 Ext " Ocean - Afternoon Slamming
fists on the water, he jumps through the waves exulting in the pain. Feeling
that his blows against the ocean are weaker then a fake oil spill, he takes off
his sodden jacket and throws it away with impudence. Scene Act 6 Ext " Train Station " Sunset Taking
out his cigarettes ready to blow the day away with the smoke of ‘Weinfield’, he finds his bench already occupied. Sure the
girl of his young ridicule doesn’t smoke, he sits on another bench a few meters
away. Looking at the girl he finds himself without words, a rarer occurrence then
dying by chipmunk. Teenage Girl What are you looking at? Never
one to shy away from a challenge he responds instantly without a thought. Teenager Mostly at you… but when I thought you would’ve
noticed I looked at the wall a little. Teenage Girl Why are you looking at me? Teenager Honestly I wanted to talk to you but I’ve been
having trouble finding my nuts. Oh wait here’s one. Teenage Girl You’re such a d********g Teenager Oh and here’s the other, I think there saying
something. He
makes a self monologue Teenager “Are you ok B1” “I think I am B2” Teenage Girl “Ha Ha” Very funny. She
rolls her eyes at the crass joke. Teenager Hey I thought so. Teenage Girl Look, the only reason you’re talking to me now is
because I don’t look like a biggest loser contestant. Teenager That’s not true, not about you looking like a
biggest loser contestant, but the reason. Teenage Girl Whatever. I know all about you, and you’re
reputation… Teenage I just wanted to talk to you but if you want to be a
b***h about it! Teenage Girl I’m not going to take that from the school biggest
sleeze. Teenager You really want to know why I wanted to talked to you?
It’s because I guess you remind me of a time when I was innocently happy. I
wanted to apologize and do something selfless. I liked my past, I have high
hopes for the future but I don’t like what I’m seeing now. Teenage Girl That’s surprising sincere. Teenager It happens sometimes. I’m like a lucky dip you never
know what you’re going to get before you put you’re hand in. Teenage Girl AHAHA Whatever, give me a smoke I’ve been craving
for a while. Scene Act 7 Ext " Ocean - Afternoon The
ocean finally breaks the insolent dam, and the man gets escorted back to the
shallower end. Revolted at this set back, he takes off the t-shirt that has
become cumbersome in this private war. He fires the t-shirt like a cannonball and
falls to his knees at the recoil of emotion. Scene Act 8 A
montage of their relationship plays every memory that seared his heart. -
Their first Date -
Sitting at her side on the train and slowly reaching for her hand. -
Losing himself to her guitar play. - Laughing
and fighting on the phone. - Searching
and finding forever in their starry eyes, they lay on the bed fully clothed on
top of the sheet. OR - Watching her gentle snores, a big stupid grin
controls his face. He stealthily moves her fringe, only for her to catch him out
and restrain his movement by grasping his hand and resting her cheek on his
palm. - Woman Why do you love me? Man I got it from you. You got under my skin, while you
were overflowing in love and I was empty. You topped me off with a word and a
laugh. Woman I love you. Scene Act 9 Ext " Ocean - Afternoon Running
in a frenzy wanting to hurt anything, anyone, someone or himself, he stumbles
trying to take of his pants to be free of inhibition. Running out of breath he
takes his stand, an unmovable object staring down an unstoppable force. Scene Act 10 Int " Apartment - Afternoon His
arms full of groceries he lightly bumps the door with his shoulder to get it
opened. Grabbing the box of chocolates he quietly sneaks into his room. Seeing
the door ajar he opens it oh so quietly. What he sees in the room terrifies and
disgusts him. The strange beast with two back is grunting and grinding on the
bed and his lady getting gored by its horn. The image of her being trampled
before his very sight. He drops the box of chocolates and the grunting comes to
a stop. Peeking through the sheet she screams. Woman Wait! The
man doesn’t hear it, all that’s going through his head is “fatty, fatty, fatty
fat, fatty”. Running out the door he turns the engine on and rushes out. Scene Act 11 Ext " Ocean - Afternoon Completely
naked, stripped of everything emotional or otherwise he thanks his worthy
opponent. Almost in acquiescence the oceans calls back its soldiers, calm clear
water flows around his body. Washed clean, absolved and resolved he looks on
yonder. © 2011 Jester_SalvadorAuthor's Note
