Mae the Umbrella

Mae the Umbrella

A Poem by Amelia Angel
"

A poem I wrote for a photograph I took

"
I went for a long walk today,

Down the grand old streets of Bombay.

I met a girl whose skirt did sway.

She said, "The rain is in delay."

I frowned at her in much dismay.

"I have named my umbrella, Mae."

"She likes basketball and ballet."

I did not understand this, Mae.

Though she seemed in no shape for play.

Her wire stuck out, her flap array.

For no rain did this Mae so pray.

I like the way this poem is written. It's written in a very educated manner. A lesser poet might have written "Mae prayed for no rain" but you took the poem to a different level by writing "For no rain did this Mae so pray." Nice work.
