Breathing to Be

Breathing to Be

A Poem by Silky

This oxygen comes with an asterisk
As soon as it passes
Through my lips
The thoughts collect and sit
In my consciousness
And I don’t want to live like that
Thinking about tit for tat
And all the things I lack
But not for lack of trying
I’ve been buying
Lotto tickets
With my rhyming
Praying that my timing
Will tell me about the times
I’m living in
Full of faith and sin
Waiting for a flood
Like the one in Genesis
Til then
I’ll get lit
And try to try again
Effort mismanaged
Soul indebted
To The Man
Who’s regretted
My existence
From the minute
I started spitting
Cause I get livid
I mean
This is life were living in
So why can’t I just live with it
Instead of wondering where I fit in
To the equation
So sick of my mind racing
Wish I could change the pace and see
My life as it was meant to be

About
Hello literary friends! I am fairly new here, but I have been using my words to seek understanding for as long as I can remember. I love to write both poetry and prose, often in beat style. I plan .. more..
