Entanlgement

Entanlgement

A Poem by C.R.Turner

Something strange happened that night -
The most passionate night of my life.

No sex, scarcely words.
A transcendent experience.
A different plane altogether,
together.

In the quiet still,
our souls came out
and danced in the twilight.
Our bodies mute,
cast aside like uncomfortable clothes,
put in a trance
to stay out of the way.

There we were.
My soul,
your soul.
Naked.
Exposed.
Dancing together.

Our essence
soft tendrills
filling each others' spaces,
becoming enmeshed,
intertwined,
entangled.
One.

That night, we became whole,
our destinies fused together...

Later, back in the flashy fluorescence of reality; shopping, driving, cleaning, cooking, putting out the bins...
when the humdrum seems all-encompassing,
when we are not together,
when you are cold,
when I am angry,
when sometimes I feel like pulling away,
something stops me.
Like the smarting of a taut rope,
it yanks me back in.
I know you feel this too.

Our entanglement.
The night our souls danced.
The most beautiful night of my life.
