This poem IS about a real person!

Hey, it's me.

Six foot long, two feet at one end -

old head on dusty shoulders at the other.

Meandering in this jungle for 44 years.

Progress: uncertain.

Current status: unclear.

So what DO I know?

I f*****g love this place.

I love life.

I love the randomness of living.

I love the way stuff blows up in your face

just when you think you've got it sussed.

I love change, because change IS life.

I don't do static, stuck in the muck -

each day a facsimile of the last.

I don't conform to society's norms.

I make mistakes liberally and often,

and am never afraid to admit I'm still learning!

I don't pretend to have all the answers.

And I think those who do

maybe aren't asking enough questions?

TV, wealth, mass hysteria and vanity bore me.

Give me nature, fresh air, good food and sex.

The close company of a good friend.

I love being vegetarian, aspiring vegan.

The invisible rewards of that overwhelm me sometimes.

Only when you enter that world will you understand this.

And music. What can I say?

My first love and lifelong partner.

Ever faithful -

no matter how much I cheat, lie, steal, insult, sulk, slam doors - 

you are always there to take up the slack.

This art sustains me. ♥

What else?

Oh, a little pet project simmering in the background

Might just hold the key,

to a brighter future

by making everything free. ♥

So, on mature reflection,

perhaps 'uncertain progress'

is a tad unfair.

I'm not sure where all this is going

but I'm definitely on the way there.

I think you are right, "uncertain progress" is very unfair. You may not know exactly where you are headed, but at least you know who and what you are. You can't always count on your passengers to agree to where you go,or to even take the trip at all, but so long as you're doing the driving..............sometimes the HOV lane is too crowded anyway.;) Show them the door and make your own way to your destination. Oh, and one more thing CR, take the back roads less traveled. The scenery is magnificent!

Haha! Yes I know. And those roads can get very mucky too... Anyway, they say happiness is the journey, not the destination. It's not always easy, but overall I'm enjoying this bumpy ride!!!
