The Poet Mistress

This is not about a real person! LOL!

She struts the boards each day

unashamed in her loud, clanking heels

up and down the rank and file of poets

quietly working on their PCs.

Occasionally she reaches down

to rap the knuckle of an idiot student -

mumbling his metaphors

or mixing her meter -

While she eloquently alliterates -

effortlessly effusing

a scintillating silver-tongued review -

or just shaking her adorable assonance

in a hail of LMAOs!!

Of course she is a woman

and likes a little flirt,

to keep her students guessing:

"Is it me she writes in verse?"

But she's no fool, she keeps it cool,

knows when to pull

and when to push,

knows how to keep the game alive,

like a cat with a doomed mouse -

she likes her prize

but likes to get her value too!

She's a hard meter witness,

our well-heeled poet-mistress,

but a soft heart of gold

and a delicate soul,

make her every boy's secret love interest.

this was great the metaphorical comparison to poetry and the teacher very effective and the way she keeps all the boys in line by manipulating the game typical the second stanza just did it for me the lmao's very funny kept me reading and the way she messes with them really like a cat & mouse very well stated well versed well captured and well done
