Darkness

Darkness

A Poem by Panda
"

._.

"
Huddling underneath my blanket of fear
The darkness is like a friend I've long ignored
Holding his hand that promises to protect
I try to escape the light I can't afford

The white light is like the blinding snow in a storm
A hope that is an icy wind piercing through my skin
Frozen daggers that leave gaping wounds
But for the life of me, I will not give in

It's nothing but a spark of life with the intent to hurt
A never ending blindness at the end of the road
There are no green grassy hills of paradise
That the legends I've read once foretold

Even though I have nothing to offer
I don't want to end up with tears in my eyes
I don't want to be filled with overflowing emotions
I'd rather be void of truth and lies

Winter is not yet over, I do not wish to be awoken
I want to go back to the silent comfort I was in before
Alone with darkness as my companion
And so with a single breath, I close my eyes once more
