Shattered and beaten

I wondered if it was best just to stay there

On the ground frozen and defeated

Because with pain, I’ve had more then my share

Too many times before

I let people in and they broke me down

Thinking they were the one I could trust

Only to keep on spinning on this merry go round

So how do I know

I can believe in the words you say

That your feeling will be the same as yesterday

That they won’t change today

I want to trust in you

But I’m haunted with my past

I don’t want to be hurt again

I don’t want something that can’t last

I’m cold and tired of

The winter nightmare inside of me

Just know that I’m trying

To fix the hole where my heart used to be

It’s not going to be easy
