First Love

First Love

A Poem by Panda

She never stopped loving him
No matter how many times he had walked away
She always clutched to that small chance; that tiny hope
That he would ask for her back one day

And she had been right
Time had passed and he saw her in a different light
Even though he was leaving the arms of another
Happiness was found in a situation that had no good ending in sight

But even though she loved him dearly
The pain from the past had left her with a still bleeding wound
Her broken trust always left her questioning
Was she building a house on a foundation that had already been ruined?

Still she decided to take that chance
Because she just didn't know how to say goodbye
She wanted it to work for the both of them
She wanted desperately to believe in her heart's biggest lie

The truth she is still terrified to face
So she runs forever into his embrace
Seeking a way to hide from her thoughts for awhile
Because the warmth of a first love is hard to replace

Lovely but terribly sad too. The desperate need to be with the one you love even in knowing that it could destroy you.
