Rousing MelancholyA Poem by SidI lose
myself to the clutches of my dreams As my
subconscious plays a sweet melody Fed with
greedy hands on my melancholy And creates
a vision of a sad harmony
As the world
expands, a barrier closes in The walls of
my conscious bind it tight Like an
infinite cage, a mighty sight With the
gleam of a door set right apart
The door, it
opens with despairing calm And a man in
black robes comes out With a sigh
and a heave of the scythe He utters
words never before heard
He then
walks to me, swings that weapon And I hear
words of utter disdain A lengthy
monologue of death and despair Devoid of
mirth, chaotic in its calm
I shudder as
I stare into his eyes Cold sweat
runs down my spine A feeling of
emptiness engulfs me And I fall
to the floor in utter defeat
As I crawl
at his feet, a slash echoes My world
turns upside down And I hang
on tight from the ceiling As images of
chaos flash before me
The first
image that I see Is of a
world devastated by war Everything is
dead, earth destructed And I stand
alone in the midst of ruin
The second
image appears right after And it
speaks of a dystopia, ruled By savages with
no morals and ethics A world
overrun with pseudo peace
The third
image shows my world A vacant
existence of avarice, full Of the very
same savages in suits As they run
this cornucopia of misfits
The ceiling
then gives way and I fall Into the
abyss below as my arms flail In desperation
to grab hold of the Fleeting peace
and warm relations
A hand
appears and tries to hold me But the
abyss pulls me away even as More hands
appear in an attempt to Break my fall
and I stop before I hit the ground © 2013 SidAuthor's Note
