The White ShrineA Poem by SidA look at our dreams and their importance according to age...the white shrine signifies our dreams...Crawling, a
toddler The simple joys,
his guiding light The white shrine,
a speck, mountain top The mountain path,
winding and beautiful The few thorns,
easily traversed The shining
zenith, closing in...
Walking, a child The mountain
zenith, looming distant The white shrine,
larger, mountain top The winding path,
treacherous yet friendly The tame mountain,
myriad creatures Some his friends,
others but a hindrance Still walking
strong, ever closer...
Loping, a teen The mountain peak,
farther still The white shrine,
radiant, mountain top The thorny path,
unfriendly and unforgiving The wild mountain,
strewn with evil Unhinged pleasures
abound, attractive new thoughts The simple joys,
all but lost An easy gait,
getting farther...
Running, a young

eyes, lest searched for The ominous
mountain, a great void Devoid of hope, lost
among many thoughts His gaze diverted,
others in his life Running away,
farther away...
Loping, an
experienced adult The mountain
crown, all but lost The white shrine,
barely visible, mountain top The winding path,
all but gone Lost among many,
forgotten into oblivion The dying
mountain, turning to sand His gaze distant,
fixed elsewhere Slow running, hidden,
the backdrop...
Walking, a graying man The mountain
summit, a new longing The white shrine,
rekindling, mountain top The dead path,
forging anew The lost mountain,
alive in anticipation His steps tired, aimed
for the shrine Tedious walking,
closing distance...
Crawling, an old
man The mountain
pinnacle, achingly far The white shrine,
bright, mountain top Hope all gone, out
of reach The mountain
friendly, yet alone The dream, too
far...
A serene bed of
white cherry blossoms Peace at last,
white trees all around Branches adorned,
white blossoms Tranquil he looks,
his dreams Once distant, now
his in death The white shrine,
finally his... © 2012 SidAuthor's Note
