The Fling In SpringA Poem by Siddhartha
I saw her at the Crosswords
Her eyes a glistening blue She seemed engrossed in a Cecilia Ahern I followed her eyelashes as they delineated an arc in space She glanced up I resisted the urge to look down and followed her gaze She smiled And so it went... Outside the crosswords we sat at Cafe Coffee Day Black coffee I ordered Cafe frappe she said I lighted a cigarette as she let out a smile We chatted like old friends She animatedly, I reticent She talked about a myriad things and I nodded attentively looking at her devilish blue eyes Gosh, those eyes And so it went... On the second Sunday of February I asked her out for a movie none of us had a clue about Old trick I know But who cares When spring is in the air and the heart dares Who cares? And thereafter at her door A clumsy goodbye, an awkward kiss which led to something more And so it went... Numerous meetings followed in the fragility of spring while hardened summer crept in One day she called in the dead of the night choking back tears she said - I am leaving I have won a scholarship I'll see you around - And thus we parted and here I am lamenting...
