In The Mood For Love

In The Mood For Love

A Poem by Siddhartha

the circle opens..

Went to sleep under the midnight moon

And through the night dreamt of you

Woke up under the midsummer Sun

But my mind kept thinking of you

An elixir for the soul

An oasis in the desert

An inn for the traveler

A palliative for the hurt

Went to office to work

But you distracted me all through

Came back tired and despondent

Your thoughts still cleaved like glue

A jukebox for boredom

A candle in the night

A signboard at crossroads

A string for the kite

Bought a bottle of whisky

But was drunk on you

Smoked a pack of cigarettes

The smoke took shapes of you

The moon hidden from purview

The earthy smell that delights

The clouds that shower rain

A sleeping pill for the night

the circle closes...

I adore the alluring variations on the lure~ love of multilayers~ your presentation is replete with imagery that speaks to both the surface layers of the responsive love and the more ethereal planes of otherworldy passions that aren't quite the human fashion of passions but focused more from the center eye~

This is the fourth poem of yours that I've read.... the former were a bit too whimsical for my taste. This however was wonderful to read.

Yes. I officially like this inspiration of yours. The thoughts within the circle are pretty darn good. Specially the italicized one. When we are infatuated, it is not we who are infatuated the sun, the moon and the clouds, the night the smell and the darkness all are. Smoke taking your shape was a great allegory.. I don't know how my review is shaping up but I really like this work. Grand and delectable.

I like how seriously you take the craft of poetry. Whenever I read your verse, I can tell it's been carefully written and polished. This is appreciated, especially since there is an overwhelming amount of nascent crap that folks are all-to-eager to post.

As usual, the diction is your bread and butter. Not to sound like I'm blowing my own horn, but I pride myself in my personal vocabulary, so it's always a pleasure to encounter a word or two that sends me into research mode.

Quality piece, my favorite stanza being the second to last, but really, the entire piece is solid.

If you haven't already, you should definately submit this piece for publication.

Regards,

E
