Persistence

Persistence

A Poem by Siddhartha

Why is life so damned difficult

Without a leeway or some respite

From the relentless challenges at every turn

Testing the very fabric of human nature

Why are there crossroads at every corner

With difficult choices in every direction

Whichever way you choose you incur society's wrath

From which there seems to be no escape

It's an endless labyrinth this human life

Cutting across the strata and echelons of society

And a million forces pulling in every direction

Sadism, if you will, in endless sessions

Why the enormous stress to conform to societal norms

And the Damocles sword upon your head if you say no

And why is pleasing others so damned important

Rather than blazing a trail for the naysayers to follow

A million questions such as these with no easy answers

For reason fails where the heart stamps its authority

The stronger man is he who believes in himself and his ability

And journeys ever onward leaving reason at the mercy of insanity

. ha ha ! ... welcome to the real world, my friend ... and what a brilliant piece of insightful poetry ... profound and utterly true ... yes, you're right ... and yes, it's challenging ... but genius lies in simplicity ... in breaking down the most complex of obstacles into their simplest components and then creativity is varying those components for different results ... if your talent in poetry is anything to go by, then, my friend, you are heading for success ... and yes, the title is perfect ... sheer persistence is what got me out ... and it will get you out too ... you are a force to reckon with ... and soon everyone WILL know ... :) ...

This delves deep into heart of humankind. So many of these questions I have asked myself. I love the ending lines. Awesome. :)

This poem made me think of the individual vs the herd. Questioning things long-accepted. For the most part, I liked the piece, although that final line left me scratching my head.

ha ha..You covered a lot of ground with this piece of breath-taking poetry..Brilliant work. Deep, insightful, introspective , getting to one of the many evils of society ..The last but one line is the key for success..as we all know..but it's a very important lesson , which we learn with hardships and much undesired struggle and scaffolds. Persist and thy will succeed is your moral and Boy you are right..

Great job dude..keep it up..keep it floating..
