An Evening Beside the River Brahmani

An Evening Beside the River Brahmani

A Poem by Siddhartha

The city of childlike dreams

The Gulmohars burning bright

The innocence of twilight

While the Cuckoo yonder preens

The river Koel that snakes like a creeper

The mornings filled with radiance

The Moon and Sun’s evening dalliance

As the day becomes silent, and the night dapper

Happiness there comes in waves

The cresting and bottoming of struggles

The contentment of a waterfall

The city ensconced in dawn’s drape

Oh, the city of my childhood ‘ere

Our lives were ensnared

You with your longwinded roads to nowhere

The joy of a day’s travel, with a night to spare

When the mornings beckons, a perspective to share

Beautifully voiced in a transcendence from the sighs of your soul, my friend. The river, how the seasons bring it life, and how it carries this life down every wild pathway. What joy to look back and see yourself there again, child of dreams and destiny.

I love the emotions this poem awakens in me, it's somehow nostalgic. I really enjoyed reading this.
