A Poem by Siddhartha

What of religion, and what of men
Why must people die at its altar
Why must it drive us insane
Why not do all the good we can

What of love, what of it then
Why must it be given, to be taken
Why not instead be like the ocean
Parting only to come back again

What of friendship, taken as a given
Why not be unconditional, unobligated
To wash away grief; take away the pain
Knowing not how, only that it can

What of life, what of this world then
It could all end, if only to start again
So share your joy, take in the pain
Be what you are, do what you can
