A Valentine's Day Love Poem

A Valentine's Day Love Poem

A Poem by Siddhartha

What if there were no stars in the sky.
No sweet temptation of morning,
nor seduction of the night.
No birds to fly;
Nor seagulls to cry.
No solitude to give respite,
from the tempestuous crowd,
and the maddening light.

What if there was no hope -
All songs forgotten,
in the death of the night.
All lights extinguished;
All windows shuttered.
All roads enveloped
in moss grown wild.
No laughter of a child.

What if despite this -
Despite the day and the night;
Despite this remnant of a life,
I still remember you.
Your laughter and your eyes.
The wave of your hair,
as it plays in the Wild West wind.
And you…
As you outshone the whole world blind.
