Carpe Diem! Or What You Will

Carpe Diem! Or What You Will

A Poem by Siddhartha

The past lives in unkempt shadows

Which suck the juice

Off the marrow of the night

Darkens the skies

Deadens the Sun

Blindfolds the misty moonlight

Through nightscapes of dreams I ride

Nightmares of yesteryears burn blind

The river of dreams

I lay anchor on

Floods the promise of the moment

And I rise, buoyant

On wings the present brings

To let this moment go waste

Is to drown

Inch by imperceptible inch

In whirlpools of memories lost

And sometimes it is better to let go

Of chains that fetter

And make instead a fresh start

Ride on the tide of hope

Leave the highways, the fast lanes

The tarred remnants of pain

And take a detour
