my lucky token

my lucky token

A Poem by Rachna Singh

deals with emotional attachment with inanimate objects

My lucky token

As I captured the innocence
of the lovely morning and its florescence
I tiled my bedside post
Hurriedly erasing memory of that  horrifying ghost

Why the hell am I so late
Glaring at my maid arranging plate
Rhythmically catching up my schedule
still trying to follow the module

Splasshh! Things got out of my hand
While I simply stare at that broken band
What have I done
I thumped down oblivious to none

That unique antique piece
Without which my world would just cease
I m losing my mind
Remembering mom's word in a blind

I had broken the token
Which mom had given to mend the soul broken
Mom is not here , token is not here
Still I want to travel there

I wept my heart loud
unintentionally gathering the whole crowd
I delayed the day
Still thinking to clear the way

Unable to heal the wound
Which took years to get me feel safe and sound
It has emerged fresh
That hollowness which I don't want to redress

Carrying the memories with a paper
Which I had preserved with a wrapper
I slept crying and wailing
So as to heal the heart ailing

Mom said let go dear
Attachment always ends in fear
You are brave and strong hearted
You made your way which no one had darted

I silenced the wailing cries inside
Keeping the broken pieces aside
I am the one she had trusted
Not these silver engravings which never existed !

Author's Note

Rachna Singh
the last token of someone special who is close to our heart is indeed very special but in case we lose it ..doesnt mean that we have lost that person ..he/she is still residing in our hearts.:)
