Cosmonaut

Cosmonaut

A Poem by Connor

Do you know where you are,
cosmonaut in bleeding stars.
The kid who could throw the stone the farthest,
but you're going nowhere anymore.
Can you trace that ugly scar,
car accidents have looked prettier.
The kid who could hold his breath the longest
now how does it feel to choke?
And what'd you think when you planted that seed
did you look up to a future among the tallest trees?
You grew too thin, always too thin.
Break under your own weight, your branches can't help now.
Your farthest reaches decay into thin air, people watch, they stare.
Where is that tiny star now, where's your glow?
When these things happen, doesn't time move just a bit to slow?
Keep making wishes, I'm sure they'll come true,
keep looking back, were moving ahead without you.
