Into the Sea

Into the Sea

A Poem by Connor

superstar intensity quiets the concubines,
the echoes have left, glitch reverb on hold
and through cracks the faint light shines
seeping and flowing, curving like translucent gold
geometric euphoria places itself on my eyelids
pasted to the back of each, shifting and sliding
at the end where crumbling marble statues sit
staring into space, quiet, listening, confiding
body language secrets to my open irises
the warmth washes over me like gentle tidal waves
calm yet giant, silent, hers, watching her highness
refilling the endless empty plots of flowered graves
at the end of the passage, i look down into the sea
the ocean breeze, faint caressing me, soft and salty
like autumn leaves i leap, falling from the tops of trees
into the water, powerful and captivating when the ground was faulty
and i sink into coral reef forests and twisting kelp meadows
colorful fish dancing through the water like tropical birds
and i am at a home with no room for lands topical nonsense
lying on my back, staring at the sun through the surf
reaching towards the sky like blue plains covered with tents
voices of the shipwrecked echoing all around me
but in ignorance bliss, in warm skin, truly happy
