A Poem by Connor

white wine, red wine
two silver eyes like a pair of dimes
moonshine, moon shine
sittin' in a field doing nothing in particular
two sticks and a lighter
and the stars read me like a dictionary
translate me through thick clouds
clairvoyance of the other world
twenty cents in buried in the grass
reflecting the glowing thought waves
of the purple sky above.
children come, and children go
find a bit of money,
home is a chipped piggy bank
children come, and they do go
soon the candy shop becomes
twenty cents richer.
and white wine, red whine
two sticks and a lighter
and we do drink and we do breathe
we are at ease
trading our insides for candy
for twenty cents, you'd rather buy the stars
set them down against foamy waves
and white wine, red wine
two sticks and a lighter
smoke signals and no care to be rescued
just two dimes and two stars
reflecting the moon.
