My Tomorrow

My Tomorrow

A Poem by Shreyas Tripathy
"

This is going to be mine and everyone else's future...

"
A hot, fuming planet
With hardly any life left
Once the longest river, now dry
No more Egypt's sorrow

Oh! Save us from the metal monsters
Living in the towering homes
Oh! Save, the planet pleads
"Give back what you borrow"

We cut, we burn, we slaughter
We've murdered our own mother
And have painted her all grey
No green, no blue, no yellow

The birds do not fly anymore
The skies belong to the scrapers
The machines we fill our homes with
Have sucked our insides hollow

No more laughter, no more joy
Could this be a nightmare?
But no... not with my eyes wide open
I know this is my tomorrow

As a species, we have so much to give, but it will need a change in our DNA to stop us taking. This fault will trap us in a downward spiral, I fear. I hate to be negative, but man as we know him is a transient being like so many other species. Maybe evolution - or Mother Earth - will take care of it. One can only hope. P.

We cut.. we burn.. we slaughter.. OUR MOTHER EARTH!!
Many people say 'mother earth' commonly, but no one knows how many of them feel that motherly thing. We stamp it daily.. we do all kinds of stuff which we cant even do to our mother who gave us birth...can we stamp on our mother? No! But, Mother earth bears it all! And its unfortunate that not many thank her for the resources she gave us and not many think of apologizing her for stamping on her even though that's all what we can do. :(

Oh dear, I hope not...I hope we learn to give back what we take from the earth...and that we paint colours besides grey...

"We cut, we burn, we slaughter
We've murdered our own mother"
I saw the murder of woman and children in Africa and Asia. Taught me man is mad. How can you kill a child or a woman? War is in the old cities. To see once great cities destroyed and dead is very sad. A powerful poem. I wish the whole world saw the bad direction we are heading into to. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
