No win situation

No win situation

A Poem by Shreyas Tripathy
"

Ever wondered what we do when we laugh at a poor man's torn clothes, or filthy shoes or messy hair? I now realize... we make a fool of ourselves ...

"
I was born and brought up around flies
I was born in the Poor race
I will stand your disgust filled eyes
But I'll wear my torn boots, no lace

Says who I was meant to be perfect
Says who I was meant to be great
Says who I could lead a clan, a sect
Says who I would take the bait

Get lost you condescending b*****s
I don't care for expensive gifts
Stay home with all your riches
I can work multiple shifts

Life is never fair, you know
Trust isn't an unbreakable bond
Now I won't hear, "I told you so"
Get the f**k off, spare that taunt

Go buy yourself some new shoes
And laugh like crazy On my boot
that saved me from the dog left loose
Who could have bitten off my foot

What would you care
Prince from the sky, Princess from the sea?
about how valuable, how rare
These leather boots might be to me?

Because when life spits you out
And poverty sucks you in
You'll die to win every bout
And if you die, you won't win

I tell people I know in the USA. A lot of poor people here too. Poor folks don't have far to fall. Poor people will survive. Rich people who do nothing will pay the price for allowing the separation between poor and rich to expand. I like the purpose and the logic of this poem. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

Smooth flow and relevance and I love reading this kind of poems. It really also depicts today's society and I am just now a fan.

I am one of those who come from a more humble background and it really touches heart.

A great and true poem. What an inspiration and motivation!

This is a really great poem! Shreyas you are a poet. Believe.

However not suitable for the book as it doesnt really have a magical mystical feel to it. Am sure you can write one that does though....
