No win situationA Poem by Shreyas TripathyEver wondered what we do when we laugh at a poor man's torn clothes, or filthy shoes or messy hair? I now realize... we make a fool of ourselves ...
I was born and brought up around flies
I was born in the Poor race I will stand your disgust filled eyes But I'll wear my torn boots, no lace Says who I was meant to be perfect Says who I was meant to be great Says who I could lead a clan, a sect Says who I would take the bait Get lost you condescending b*****s I don't care for expensive gifts Stay home with all your riches I can work multiple shifts Life is never fair, you know Trust isn't an unbreakable bond Now I won't hear, "I told you so" Get the f**k off, spare that taunt Go buy yourself some new shoes And laugh like crazy On my boot that saved me from the dog left loose Who could have bitten off my foot What would you care Prince from the sky, Princess from the sea? about how valuable, how rare These leather boots might be to me? Because when life spits you out And poverty sucks you in You'll die to win every bout And if you die, you won't win © 2012 Shreyas TripathyAuthor's Note
