On Yanni's "Nightingale"

On Yanni's "Nightingale"

A Poem by Augustus
"

Inspired by the beautiful piece of music created by Yanni and performed at the Forbidden City in China. Part of the Album called "Tribute".

"
The dawn is wakened by his flute
Her blush adorns the Eastern sky
The hills and valleys soaked in mist
Are wooed by clouds that float nearby

In sleeping trees and moist earth
Sanctity finds a brand new voice
His fingers waltz with dulcet keys
As hearts in wonderment rejoice

A morn to take us back in time
An embrace straddling galaxies
A Nightingale weaves in its tale
The music of the cosmic seas

The bow makes love with fluid grace
To taut impassioned soulful strings
It ceases soon: The magic still
Long afterward in my heart rings

I listened to the piece of music in question whilst reading, and I can tell you that these words do it full justice. The imagery is silken and flowing like the airy, dreaming tune... A beautiful piece of music and a poem worthy of it. Instrumental music is often so much better than lyrics and there are so many songs where I wish there was an instrumental...and with instrumentals there is an inspiration for words. I feel as though I wish to do the same thing myself with another piece of music...
The only thing is, I wished you had called it "Music of the Cosmic Seas" --- I rather love that phrase...Also "A morn to take us back in time / An embrace straddling galaxies".... Rather good indeed.

This poem goes very well with the music, itself. Read alone, this poem is beautiful, but with the music, it's mesmerizing, beautiful and completely stunning. A wonderful tribute!

Thank you so much!
Dear Augustus,

This was again greatly enjoyed. I think music can be such a wonderful inspiration for poetry. It gives something for the words to hang onto and provides a backdrop of mood and emotion. You did a wonderful here.

Very best regards, My Friend.

A fine tribute to a wonderful artist. I always love art that inspires other artists! I don't think there is a finer compliment to a work.

if i could make music like what you describe... this is a wonderful poem. your imagery is so fluid and graceful. it gives the feeling of sleep and dreams, the sweet kind that pull you gently along and let you remember in the morning.
