The Return

The Return

A Poem by Augustus

This path I traversed long ago
My footprints leading far away
Faces with smiling tears aglow
To send me walking on my way

The tree of Time in Autumn pale
Like yellow leaves its years shed
I bid goodbye to my travail
With thoughts of home within my head

And now I run with heart ablaze!
With every moment passing by
My footsteps live the long lost days
Under the same sapphire sky

I know that scent, the rain kissed soil
Enchants me with her earthen love
Imploring me to rest awhile
In her compassion's silent cove

But still I run with ardent glee
Forward in time and back in space
My weather beaten heart must see
The rosy and the wrinkled face

Let me rest here, and my days spend
In this land which I call my own
Where warmth and love my scars can mend
And my laugh rings in every stone

this is beautiful poem about loving home and wanting to go back to the place you call home. this poem almost makes me think that you are talking about Scotland or Ireland for some reason. Nice descriptive write.
