While we must walk on embers red and gold
Which lie between the Present and Desire We tempt our weary heart that has grown cold With latent sparks of our creative fire We point ahead and gaze at that full moon Which days ago a crippled crescent was A masochist's delight, a lover's swoon We brand our strife and brave its toothed jaws For beauty we have wooed: We see her now Reflected in a shattered mirror's shard We chase her shadow; dying to keep our vow She lies in wait beyond and we are scarred Our Life is Craving and our zest the Trail Our Wealth is our Desire: The Chase our Grail © 2010 AugustusReviews
