Aurora

Aurora

A Poem by Augustus

If light could waltz with depth
Perhaps it could melt your words
And let me drink them in

If light could flow like honey
Perhaps it could drench me
In your torrent of metaphors

If light could breathe in silent swells
Perhaps I would know the fragrance
Of your poetry

If light could crystallize
Perhaps I would sense God
In the glinting shards of creation

Wow, now this is more like the Shreyas I know. The imagery, the diction and the metaphors are all top notch! I especially like how you wrote a metaphor using the word "metaphors". But the line that drew me in, and the one I love the most is the first one
"If light could waltz with depth
Perhaps it could melt your words"
This is astounding poetry!

There's music running through your words, linking phrases rather than lyrics with glorious lights and changes of mood. Yours is a sweetly complex journey with glittering scenes and deeply felt emotions.. especially in: ' If light could flow like honey ~ Perhaps it could drench me ~ In your torrent of metaphors.. ' Somehow that twins with the final stanza which is beautiful.

Thank you very much, Emma! :)
This is very nicely done. The imagery is heavenly and I like the flow. The last stanza is actually very similar to some of the thoughts I've had myself the past couple of days so this poem hit close to home. Excellent work.

Thank you!
A questioning piece...poignant and thought provoking. I think that in our own ways, we all long to sense God in the light of this world. We all dream of faith and what comes beyond all of...this. Your piece had a light touch, but it also had a strong connection to the emotional. Well done.

'If light could flow like honey'

I loved the repetition 'if light' at the beginning of each stanza, setting the tone and then the endless possibilities of 'perhaps'. My favourite stanza was the second one 'if light could flow like honey' is a very pretty phrase, suggesting the beauty of light and its incredible essence but the last stanza is great too because light is the undeniable goodness of God he is the light and in a poem that celebrates light and language it hints at that beauty. this is truly the kind of poetry I enjoy, you have a lot of sensitivity to language and you heighten our sensitivity as well. fantastic.

Having just the mere thought of this light sends me into a whirlwind of euphoria...if only poetry were this tangible... (sigh)...
Nevertheless, it's the metaphoric yearning that creates such divine bliss... and you certainly did that here!
I believe you just slayed me with your words....
I am awestruck with this eloquent piece... well done, Shreyas!~xoxo~
