Very insightful. I think of God when I think of mercy. I think of His mercy for me. Still, the mercy we all want to imagine is laced with happy endings......Heaven being the one in my vision. It's the other end of the spectrum rarely mentioned that you have pointed out. It's a complicated perspective, but real. Well done....

Hi Augustus,
I really liked the progression of thought about your ideas on mercy, compassion, duty, deliverance and death. It was both clever and thoughtful, there's something very practical about your thoughts, like this is reality, damn it!
Thanks,

The idea of mercy being nurtured, kept safe so it can grow and mature and eventually sustain a life of its own, occurring in the womb of compassion is an idea which is simply and profoundly expressed in this piece. Duty as a surrogate mother to help raise mercy is such a perfect expression of exquisite insight which inspires and uplifts my spirit.
Death being the "reclusive" sibling of Deliverance...just wow, especially given that, of all the points highlighted in this piece, death is the only one inevitable, and yet considered a recluse, a recluse who visits us all.
Brilliant!

The complexity of society reflects the conundrum of morality, doesn`t it? Nothing is as simple as it seems, and you have explored the riddle very effectively, Augustus. P.
