Lost CausesA Poem by Shruti DasShattered dreams and a wilting rose, Broken Litany, an unfinished prose, That vivid dream of a new dawn was, After all, a lost cause.
Depthless ocean and a dreary plain, Silent flaws, driving you insane, A soundless creak from some place mundane, You see the full moon starting to wane.
Into the oblivion and out of space, Amidst the crowd yet out of place, You dreamt of being forever new, Like the glistening drops of the morning dew.
Dazzling sunshine and a darkened night, You used your will, they used their might, Frantic screams, a mellowed plight, They said that you were never right.
Waiting alone and standing in a line, Looking for some sign- divine, But like the melting of the frost, You realize your divinity is gone, wrecked and lost.
Yet; you still breathe, you're still alive, It's your only war, your own strife, Maybe, that vivid dream of a new dawn was, After all not a lost cause.
