A Chapter by Shradha R.C.

Dear God,
Mummy held a family intervention today to address the problem plaguing our 4 member household " the way I throw my phone at the wall every time someone raises their voice at me, the scabs on my knees that I keep on picking at, so that I can watch the blood flow out and how I refuse to clean my room or even open the windows. To me, it seems more like a hygiene issue rather than a “Mrinali is acting differently” one.
It’s amazing how they can see the signs so clearly and yet haven’t figured out what is really happening; they aren’t looking deeper into the matter. Not that I want them to " but a little bit of attention wouldn’t hurt, you know? I’d rather be inside my room, with the curtains draw, cut off from the world than out here in this bright space that is our drawing room, where everything is visible " including my discomfort and irritation.
I look at Mummy’s frowning mouth, Daddy’s tense brows and our maid Manmati’s disturbed face and I know they are all worrying because of my recent behaviour. If only they knew why
