Lies

Lies

A Poem by Stephanie Irene

When I met you
I never knew
Just how naive
I could be

Falling for every word
Just to always
Be proved
It was a lie

I tried so hard
To make you see
But all that did
Was cause more pain

Lie after lie
I kept trying to believe
But you my dear
Will never change

I ask and ask
What does love mean
Just to never have the answer
You lied and lied

Til I couldn't grasp
What was true
And what was a lie

I was pushed and hurt
Til nothing was left
All the love was gone
Leaving only the hate

I wanted so badly
For you to prove me wrong
To show the love
That was said to be

Lies fall off your tongue
Like venom from a serpent
They spread faster
Than a wildfire

But now I'm gone
For you to never have again
Lies are evaded
The truth has set me free

There is nothing like unconditional love beaten down by fallacies and deceit. Well expressed poem.

This is a deep poem, it is hard when someone breaks your heart. This poem conveys those feelings well. Nice write!
