Conflict of Mind

Conflict of Mind

A Poem by Jennifer Warnock

Just another lonely heart
searching for another one.
A deep old soul,

searching for a perfect match.

A confused mind

just searching for a little peace.

Never expecting much,

but always hoping for more.

Living one day at a time,

never getting ahead.

There's just so much one can do.

Living life one the edge.

Going on fighting

hoping that in the end it'll be worth it.

Nobody knowing the thoughts

that go through this mind.

Finding a balance

between the head and soul.

Wishing things could be easier,

but greatful for the struggle.

Hoping there's enough time

to find what one needs.

Wondering what to do

when there is a conflict.

Always pushing away the fear

that tries to hold one back.

Always aware of what's real

and what's just an act.

Knowing when one is lying

and when they're using.

Feeling a little numb

after each time.

When the heart know

and the soul knows

but the mind is afraid

to take that chance.

Accurately true. Love the introspective you have flowing through there. The wording of this poem is superbly penned, I think. The concept is adeptly approached and the pace is controlled. The fluidity could mirror the gliding wispy effect of the soul. Beautifully done, a highly expressive poem.

well written poetic prose outlining the common dilemma should I seize the chance or not.
Fear can prevent you from achieving your dream
