Forget-It-Not

Forget-It-Not

A Poem by Jennifer Warnock

 Sins get washed away,

the pain and anger are drowned.

Happiness and hope are forgotten

and love is lost.

We end up forgetting the past,

forgetting the good,

remembering the bad

and not letting go.

Ending up in this never ending cycle,

that causes war and confusion.

We forget that everyone makes mistakes,

that everyone learns as they go.

We need to learn when to let go

and when to hold on.

It shouldn't take a disaster

for us to unite with one another.

To learn to hold onto the good,

along with the bad.

We need to hold onto each other

to remember what we mean to each other.

Hold onto those we love,

to get along with those we don't.

To help those who need it,

learn to be nice to one another.

If we can't do that,

then we might as well forget everything that we love.
