~Day Four~ Undead

~Day Four~ Undead

A Chapter by Short.Nerd

So, I'm not allowed to drive the bus anymore.  Everyone says I drive to slow and that if we ran into any Undead's they could just hop on the bus.  Never in my life had I ever heard of being told that your drivinug was horrible because you didn't go fast enough.  My step-father was obsessed with going slow.

"Zylen, where are we going?"  I asked peeking over the edge of the seat in front of me.  Addy and I had moved farther back.  Zylen was now sitting by Danielle.  Everette was driving, and Jeff was sleeping.  The others I hadn't gotten to know that well yet.

"We have no clue."  Zylen answered and I frowned.  "You see, the Undead have kind of taken down every state road sign saying we're in a new state.  So right now we're guessing we're near Georgia."

"What the hell?  They've been alive again for four days and they take down the signs?"  I asked and Zylen nodded.  That was great.  Just great.

"Yeah, the damn things are pretty smart."  Danielle piped in rolling her eyes at me.  In all honesty I think she is a b***h.  And Danielle honey if your reading this how the hell did you get my journal?

I was going to reply with some smart-a*s remark (Danielle if this is you don't roll your eyes because I totally would have), but someone else interrupted my thoughts.

"Look!"  Gavin Flinn said.  He was the twelve year old boy who reminded me of Alex.  "What are they all doing."  His face was smashed against the bus window.

I looked out at my own window and my eyes widened.  All to the left and right of the bus were Undeads with a handful of people dead laying in the grass.

The Undeads were wrestling over various organs.  I saw one have a heart in its hand, and another one tackled it.  There was a man in his late twenties with long black hair bleeding underneath them.

Then there was a dog pile of Undeads with all their legs kicking. I could see one's head popped up in the middle with its arm up holding someone's kidney which had something oozing from it.

"Gavin, get away from there."  I told him sternly just as Addy was about to look out her window.  "Addy stay away from there too.  You don't need to see that."

"You sound like a mother."  Danielle told me and I wanted to smack her.  I barely knew her, but I already wanted to kill her.  Wasn't that grand?  "Are you a mother?"

"Danielle.  Shut up."  I told her pulling Addy away and wrapping my arms around here.  She smirked at me then turned to look out a window.

"Avery whats going on?  What are those things?  Did they hurt Alex, Mommy, and Daddy?"  Addy asked me and I kissed her on the forehead, and stroked her hair out of her brown eyes.

"Sweetie, I don't really know.  I hope that somehow they're all alright, but we'll find out soon."

"Momma always said that when you didn't know what to do you should pray."  Addy told me, and I smiled.  My mother was very religious about prayer, although she didn't force it on me and Alex.  She said we were old enough to choose for ourselves.

"It wouldn't hurt to try, Addy.  I think it'd be a good idea."  I told her and she closed her eyes.  Her little hands went together and she began whispering.

"Everette what are we going to do?"  Zylan called out after a few minutes.  "Keep driving or turn around?"

"Keep going.  We can make it."  Everette said and I closed my eyes too.  This was going to be a bumpy ride.
