From White To Grey To Golden
The morning dew shines on the leaf, The night changes to dawn As the rays of the sun break From the thick clouds. With each moment that passes, The seasons change bit by bit, Spring to autum, Green to golden. And I have seen change. I have seen times when My kind had to Give into what surrounded us. Quiet and calm Surrendering our freedom And living with the lies that said, Everything was alright. Everything was as it was meant to be. But as time turned And turbines started to run The compressed gas stoves Replaced the smoke and coughs I saw the change that was meant to come. Life and I had no regrets with each other Other than one and only one My desire to ink pages And print my memories Was the only thing we both didn’t agree on. Blessed with a lovely daughter, My life was happy But as black met white, It made grey It took my husband away, And my life reflected The different shades of grey. And even though I started late, With my daughter were my first steps But slowly I started to read And write and recite. My daughter moved overseas, Established a business And earned a living. While I sat on my old desk and wrote. I wrote about the wars, And I wrote about the cries, About the losses And also about the emptiness That filled all the cold souls Who had brought peril Upon humanity. My books got older And I got wiser With each green leaf that turned golden And each hair that turned grey I understood the world A little everyday Today, I stand in front of thousands, Sharing the wisdom I have with everyone around. Telling them that times have changed And people have changed And it’s a new millennium Of spirit and progress. Because it’s never too late to start, Because there is no such thing as an end, Because every end of the journey, Marks the beginning of a new one… © 2015 MoonlightAuthor's Note
