The Living DeathA Poem by MoonlightA memory that is special but still haunts...
Years have passed… My hair is all grey. But even today, I remember you Like it were just yesterday.
Before meeting you, I never thought that world could love… A prodigy as I was, And people were around only because, Of my skill and power…
But then you came along. A smile for everyone you had, But for me it was always a scowl, That you would offer.
I often wondered why? When everyone else pretended, Why were you so honest? Unafraid to express Bold and beautiful…
And it took me years to turn, That scowl into the most, Splendid smile that the world could offer… A smile that reached to your eyes, And personified in the wrinkles around your eyes… A smile that was just for me and me alone. My personal Elixir…
And, now no matter how hard I try, I can never see that smile again… Because now you smile only In my mind. A memory, So fragile, So broken.
For I am your past and he is your present, And from the beginning, We were never meant to be…
My power destroyed you, Plunged you deep into despair Into guilt that devoured you… And my conscience would never allow it…
So you see, even when you don’t remember me, Even if, to you, we never existed, Our happy times would live, Eternally in my mind, An imagination… A memory… Tainted by the darkness of my fate…
But, I shall never forget What we could have had, If only, I were not me and you were not you…
A fragrance you showered over me, Still lingers… even after you are gone… You are a piece of me, I wish I didn’t need… Because, living with your remembrance Is a like a living death for me…
