The Broken Bird

The Broken Bird

A Poem by Moonlight

All those eyes that looked at her

Had nothing but mockery to sing!

They all made faces

Twisted in contempt,

Devoid of any faith…

To them she was no one,

And neither were her efforts.

To their eyes,

She was a bird

Never born to fly…

A bird with two broken wings!

Tired of explaining,

Of yelling  to them.

The reason of her existence.

The girl wandered on lonely roads,

Unfazed by the dangers it proposed.

Seeking someone to believe her,

Searching for someone unknown…

Their lips marked with frown.

And their eyes calling her a failure.

They averted their gaze

And said,

They wanted to have

No truck with her.

Surrounded by eyes that demoralised,

Slaughtering every bit of hope.

Their cold stares,

 Striping every bit of warmth;

Forbidding and ruthless.

But she stood there.

Right in front of them.

With eyes gleaming with courage.

Speaking  sense into every silence.

Broad shoulders and strong arms,

Ready to take on any challenge.

Waiting to prove to everyone that…

She was no prodigy,

Nothing exceptional…

No, none at all!

Just a failure, who refuses to be one…

Just another broken bird,

Still trying to fly on those mended wings…

Dreaming of ruling the skies someday,

 To heights unknown!

Thanks a lot Emily! I really appreciate it. :)
The grit in this poem is truly remarkable and outlines the journey a lot of us have been on. Really got into the final verse and how it took the 'stiff upper lip' approach to the worlds mocking, believing in ones ability
Absolutely loved this one!
Cheers!

Thanks a lot Roshan! I'm glad you liked it. :)
Huzzah! We can do anything we set our minds to. Doesn't matter how broken we are, our bodies and spirits were made to heal. As long as we believe it, anything is possible. Fly high, little bird!
