Terrorism

Terrorism

A Poem by Moonlight
"

This poem is some of my thoughts shaping into words on hearing the current situation of Paris and other places suffering terror attacks.

"

Terrorism

It’s burning again.

Everything around us

Burning in flames of greed,

And selfishness that knows no bounds.

Guns and bullets,

And casualties everywhere…

Bringing with them,

A reign of fear and terror.

Those eyes that see,

No compassion that world offers.

They only smile,

At the destruction before us.

Cold and murderous

Is their presence.

Their hearts longing

For the thirst to be quenched.

A thirst of blood that knows no end.

Sweating and shaking,

Swearing under our breaths,

Frustrated at our own helplessness,

Lost in desperation to survive.

Scared to lose,

What we hold dear,

Afraid of what their smiles,

Mean for us…

Smiles that know no love,

But ones that breed malice.

Smiles that replenish the cycle of hatred.

But none of this matters now,

Because no one knows how to stop,

These wanton murders.

The leaders out there say things,

Wanting us to believe their lies,

To make their false rants our false hopes.

But their works no more,

For we all know,

When they open hell on earth,

And everything is lost to flames,

Of malice and fear,

Neither their lies,

Nor our prayers,

Would bring calm to the world.

When all around us

Gets engulfed in fire,

Turning to dust,

And the earth below us

Swallows all the hope that remains,

And even when the skies come crashing down,

No angel’s going to help us

Stand our ground.

We all will breathe only one word,

Pure and stark Terrorism.

I agree, Lizardo! Thanks for your review. :)
"smiles that hide the sheer sneer of terror"
they smile we lose, and all the lives taken in the name of some god---i am sure he wouldn't think this was in honor of or to him.
nicely expressed what many of us are feeling right now.
