Mourning...

Mourning...

A Poem by Moonlight
"

This poem is about a girl who wants to give a message to her dead friend.

"

Mourning…

I saw him standing beside me,

Through every thick and thin

That life had to offer.

Back then, I never knew

Why he did so…

Never believed in love.

Was scared of commitments.

Orphan as I was,

Even with a family of four…

When everyone turned their backs,

I convinced myself…

That it was better this way.

Alone and away.

Not caring about what the others would think or say.

But even from the wall

I built around myself,

I could see him,

Smiling at me…

An honest smile.

He didn’t say much,

And I never bothered to ask.

Little did I know,

That his fate was even

Worse than mine…

And now, every piece inside me

Wants to shout and scream,

And tell him,

That I do care…

That I want to be there for him…

But now, no matter how hard I try,

My voice can no longer reach him…

For now, he lies in a box,

Where shines eternal peace.

Now, he knows no grief or pain.

It’s always quiet there…

So quiet that the silence hurts me.

So, I sit beside him

On holidays.

Dressed in black,

With some flowers,

I light some incense.

And cry…

Cry to fill that silence…

To complete that emptiness.

Cry in the hope,

That he listens…

Listens to these words that can no longer reach him…

silence, a very powerful tool capable of inflicting pains on afflicted souls. Death a strong who dont care about the feelings of this world. we have to live everyday loving and appreciating everyone around us.

Its a great write Shivangi - you put yourself in the shoes of a friend who was devastated by the loss of another and you nailed it. I was moved by your words - particularly this part -
"It’s always quiet there…
So quiet that the silence hurts me.
So, I sit beside him
On holidays.
Dressed in black,
With some flowers,
I light some incense." - very beautiful sentiments .

That's really good! :)
It's really touching, with not knowing that "his fate was even worse than mine", that line really stood out to me. So much we don't know, and if only we could see... You never truly know what is going on for someone else.
This is poignant and it's well written, but I wonder if you should add more description to this to really draw the reader in. Make them feel sad about losing him too. But no matter. I enjoyed this. Especially that third-to-last stanza... beautifully done!
