this poem is an effort to voice the caged dreams of the poet...

Cage Of Expectations

 

You always say somethings

But, I never know what it is,

That you are thinking.

Standing up to your expectations…

Is something I choose not to do.

 

Can’t you that you are smothering me?

Holding on tightly, never letting go…

Can’t you see my dreams taking shape?

Can’t you see my heart screaming?

 

My heart screams for my freedom,

From your cage of expectations.

I want to be like me.

Not like you…

 

But you don’t seem to notice

That in your want of shaping my dreams,

You are killing my hopes…

 

I want to go…

Escape this bondage,

And leave you alone…

 

But you should know,

It’s not you whom I run from…

But this cage of expectations.

I can relate to this on a true level. Sometimes people want to live out there dreams through you without ever asking what it is that you really want to do. Or they may even become disgruntled when you choose not to share every single detail. Your dream is your alone....live it
