My First Love

This poem is about the first love of a girl...

My First love

 

It feels so warm

To see him smile

Like sun shining in the winter sky;

Comfortable and beautiful;

Taking me to a far away world,

Of beauty and beauty alone…

 

It’s that smile of his

That calms me, removing all doubts.

His faith in me

That gives me courage to stand tall.

His eyes that hold my gaze,

Every time they meet in a warm embrace.

His shoulders on which I cry,

When nothing seems right.

And his strong arms that support me,

Each time I stumble and fall.

His foolish blabbering when he is bored

Seem more than just interesting.

And yet there is a distance between us…

He seems

Never too far,

Neither too near.

Yet always beside me

In times of dire need.

I have said to him countless times…

“I love you “

But only in my dreams.

Because to him,

I am nothing more than

His childhood friend ;

His best friend...

 

It breaks my heart

To see him smile

And hold hands

With that other girl,

Whom he claims to love.

I wonder if he knows

How much my heart

Longs to be the one standing next to him.

 

Smiling for the sake of

His happiness,

I pick up my pen

To ink the paper

With a suitable ending

To this love story of mine.

Wondering if my first love

Will remain unrequited forever…
