My Dreams

It is a poem to convey the importance of dreams in a person's life who has nothing else to hold on to...

My Dream…

 

A dream that I once saw

With my eyes wide open

Has today become the

Only thing that I desire; my destiny.

 

The path to my dream

Is not the most easy one

But the madness of achieving it

Is what keeps me going.

 

The fire that I see

In my own eyes is

Ecstatic and contagious

Fire that burns only for,

This dream that I have dared to see.

Fire fuelled by passion and determination.

 

Walking down discouraging hallways ;

So empty dark and cold,

With a lamp of hope and courage.

The only thing I see is the,

Door that leads to my dreams.

 

Hearing whispers everywhere,

Luring me to darkness.

To get lost to lust, to sloth

To be succumbed to gluttony and wrath

To be blinded by greed and pride.

 

The only light that guides me

Is my love for my dream,

Guiding through insanity

Becoming my clarity.

 

Fighting the battles within myself.

Like fire trying to overpower water,

And water trying to extinguish

This fire that enlightens my dream…

Walking down the path of thorns and thickets

Never wavering or wallowing in self-pity.

 

Because when I knock

At the thin door separating

Dreams from reality,

I will know that

I once saw a dream

That has now become my reality…
