In this boxA Poem by MoonlightThis poem is about a daughter who lost her mother. She watches her mother being subject to the brutality of her father. This poem is an effort to highlight the emotions and feelings of this daughterIn this box Decorated with no gold or silver But only wooden carvings Lies the one thing That I hold most dear to me The memories of the one person I can’t bear to live without. In this box Rest the smiles and tears The happiness and the grief The love and the care And a list of her worries. The essence
of her warmth
This box, encased in her love This box bordered with her tender touch Showered with her kindness On this box, used to linger Her beautiful gaze Her scent still hangs on it… It reminds me of her radiant smile Her eyes that shone with pride When I won a prize Her sternness when I played mischief It reminds me of her… But this box Also reminds me of the Void in my life Now that she is gone… The tears I could not cry The words I could not say The promises that remained unfulfilled The goodbyes I never said… It reminds me of her last breath Her last scream Her last scar This box reminds me Of the last battle she fought Against a beast; her husband; my father The last glance she gave me The last smile that lingered on her lips The last bruise she would ever get… This box reminds me Of the pain of losing a loved one The pain of daughter Who lives with a deceased mother…
