The dark light

A poem on how some 'lights' can be so dark that they are unbearable!

Eyes locked in place,

Hearts fluttering to race

Lips parted and tongue moved,

To unleash the terrible truth.

 

The words were devastating

As they left my throat

But, held I was, by the chains

Which bind the truthful to his chair.

 

Why some truths are so bleak,

That they are uncomfortable to hear?

Why some lights are so dark,

That they are unable to bear.

 

It’s the dark light within us

Which comes out as words.

The words that bring the light,

But are dark enough to blot the sight.
