![]() Remember me?A Poem by Andrea Choong![]() A monologue/slam poem to raise awareness of child abuse.![]() To my “parents” Hi Do you remember me? I bet you don’t That tiny little innocent girl? Neh, she disappeared a few years ago Since her “parents” loved feasting on her Dropping her self-esteem Suffocating her with darkness Not even a single light cast upon her You really don’t remember me, do you? You know… Your own DAUGHTER Who was locked out of the house Who was just trying to tell you about her own achievements YOUR daughter Who was sitting and crying in the corner Every single day Who was tormented by an everlasting rain of boulders Every single day Who was starved and drenched in perspiration Every single day Do you remember me, now? The child you said you love The child you said you’d care for The child you said you’d treasure But really, Did you really love me? Did you really care for me? Did you even treasure me? HOW WONDERFUL you two are Spawns of evil, I now tell you I’m not pretty I’m not intelligent I’m not hot I’m not a top-scorer in school I definitely am not good in math But At least I care At least I’m strong enough to endure this torturing hell At least I believed At least I tried So what if you didn’t like my face So what if you hated my guts So what if I sucked at math So what if you wanted a son instead So what if you were frustrated So what if i wasn’t the diamond you were digging for Am I just a mere bag of meat you just had to tear DO YOU REMEMBER WHO I AM? I AM YOUR DAUGHTER Remember me? © 2016 Andrea Choong
